Being a responsible citizen is crucial for the sustainability of this world. As organizations and entities, we need to learn to be compassionate and empathetic. There are a plethora of issues surrounding us. One such is poverty.

America’s current average poverty rate stands at 13.4 percent. California has the highest poverty rate in America. Over 16 percent of the people in Los Angeles were under the poverty line. There are over 50,000 homeless people in Los Angeles alone. While the amount might be lower than in other countries, the fact remains that they are people among us that live a challenging life every day.

Leather Skin Shop decided to play a small part in spreading happiness to those who live below the poverty line. Our dedicated team members visited various streets of West Hollywood, Los Angeles on foot and gave away items as part of a charity.

A charity for One Is a Blessing For Another

Los Angeles is a vast city. You will find various people living on the streets. To repay the society that has welcomed us so warmly, we decided to walk around West Hollywood to distribute an array of items to the needy. This included meals, canned goods, beverages like Gatorade and Water and blankets.

Stories untold and unheard

You might not realize it, but each of us is living our own stories. Whether it be childhood memories, your struggles or the milestones you achieve, each element is an essential part of your life story.

Merely living the story is not enough. It is human psyche of wanting your tale to be heard and told. Some stories receive more recognition than others. But, the question arises, is this fair? Isn’t every human life precious and worthy of being heard about?

This is why our team members didn’t just distribute items to the homeless. We tried to make them feel valued by hearing them out. Our on-site team lends an ear to each person they helped. They listened intently and compassionately to their stories. By doing so, we were better able to understand their daily plights in life. By knowing their problems, we are now better equipped to help them in times to come possibly.

A Small Act Of Kindness

Compared to the number of people that live below the poverty line, our act of kindness might not be enough to eliminate the problem at hand. However, we will remain committed to the cause. We will continue to allocate a portion of our profits for such charity work. While it might not be much in terms of quantity, we hope that inspires passer-by and onlookers.

We understand that the problem may be bigger than us to solve. By walking on streets and randomly distributing goods of necessities with the homeless, our goal is to get others on board. We strive to create a ripple effect that can be felt across Los Angeles, and America. Every small act of kindness can create a chain reaction. A chain reaction that never stops.

You Play a Role

As a valued customer, you are the one who is by extension bringing joy to the needy. Since we allocate a given proportion of our earnings to CSR activities, the fact that you put your trust in us allows us to help others. This means you are just as much part of the journey as our team members. While theirs’s might be the hands that distribute items to the homeless, you are the one who enables us to do it in the first place.

Our Commitment

This small charity drive is a start. From now onwards, we plan on continuing and hopefully expanding, on our role of giving back to the society. As active members of the community, Leather Skin Shop believes that it is our job to help those in need. Poverty is just one of the issue grasping the nation. Various other issues demand our attention. We are committed to addressing them slowly.

We are sure that our community of customers will help us along the way.
